Angel Association Membership
Your organisation can benefit greatly from this involvement as membership of our association enables you to gain access to the leaders, movers and shakers of New Zealand’s angel and early stage investment market. Angel investors are typically senior business leaders and entrepreneurs and international research has shown that they invest in 30-40 times more businesses than venture capitalists.
This means that some affiliate members will want the opportunity to develop close linkages to angel networks, and via them to high net-worth angel investors and innovative early stage companies, for the commercial benefit that can be achieved. This could be through networking opportunities, developing closer ties with potential investors, encouraging use of your products and services or through downstream fee and revenue opportunities.
For other potential members the opportunity to be visible to early stage companies seeking finance or recognised as a supporter of innovation and entrepreneurship in New Zealand may be more important.
The reasons to join are numerous but no matter what the reason all members can have a voice to contribute, an ear to listen, and an eye to observe what is happening at the ‘grass-roots’ level in regards to seed and early stage funding of high-growth start-up businesses.

Angel investment has been internationally proven to play a key role in the innovation process, commercialising research and development, lifting exports, creating jobs and stimulating economic activity.
In the current global financial market, angel investment will prove to be even more critical in regards to providing innovative companies with the capital and expertise required to grow.
Over the past few years the angel investing market in New Zealand has developed and shows the potential to be a key asset class in New Zealand. During this period the number of formal angel groups has also grown with 15 now in place across the country. This critical mass led to the need for a national association, Angel Association New Zealand, to set a national vision for the sector and advocate for initiatives that will assist the industry’s growth and development.
Our goal is that by 2013 we will have grown the market five-fold with 250 angel investment deals completed annually with a combined value of $250 million. However to achieve this requires the support and involvement of private and public sector partners like yourself.
