Chrysalis Capital Partners Limited is a private equity investment company established for the purpose of investing in early stage New Zealand life science opportunities. The companys uniqueness lies in the combined skills of its principals who have solid experience and backgrounds in science, medicine, finance and capital markets. Two of the individuals are recognised and respected entrepreneurs who have developed broad domestic and international networks during their very successful business careers.

Chrysalis Capital Partners specialises in an area of funding often referred to as the Valley of Death, that dark area where government funding for research ends, but where the technology has not yet been developed to the point that investors are willing to risk their capital. By mitigating the risks associated with IP/FTO, market intelligence and reduction to practice, Chrysalis Capital Partners seeks to bridge the Valley of Death by making promising early stage life science opportunities investment ready with respect to larger venture capital providers.

Although our technical expertise within Chrysalis Capital Partners spans the life sciences spectrum, our primary focus is on medical and diagnostic devices. Our approach is to first define a companys IP position in order to develop an IP strategy. We then use a combination of our internal expertise and that of our global network partners to gain an understanding of the relevant marketplace (e.g. Who wants the product? What will they pay for it? Who are the major competitors? etc.). Finally, we explore and manage the process of developing a market ready product.
