powerHouse is a seed-stage investment house, specialising in the technology sector. Providing both capital and expertise to enable New Zealand's best early-stage companies to become internationally competitive, powerHouse commercialises intellectual property created by Universities, Crown Research Institutes and private sector businesses. While powerHouse has a regional focus, concentrating primarily on companies and investors from Canterbury, investment opportunities from outside the region are considered on a case by case basis.

Working with entrepreneurs, researchers and investors to develop high growth companies, powerHouse uses a unique investment model which combines the activities of an investment syndicate, a venture capital firm and business incubation. The management team and board have considerable experience in these areas and a track record of working with young, fast-moving companies.

powerHouse raises an investment fund every year with investments typically in the range of $100,000 to $1,000,000. powerHouse also manages significant capital for The Christchurch Fund.
