Leadership Executive Committee
Angel Association New Zealand is run by an Executive Committee of seven members of the AANZ Council. It employs a part time Executive Director. A range of other resources are supplied by contractors to help deliver projects in collaboration with our lead and expert partners and deliver events, newsletters and other communication.
Executive Chair Suse Reynolds is an active angel investor and the founder of Angel HQ, the Wellington region’s angel network. She currently sits on the Board of Angel HQ and is an enthusiastic believer in the ability of angel investment to make the world a better place. Suse was formerly the Chief Operating Officer and GM Investment at Grow Wellington. She is on the Board of CreativeHQ, the Wellington region’s incubator and innovation catalyst. She is a Trustee of Project Crimson Trust which is using smart tech to save our native trees and is an advisory board member for Narrative Muse and PlayBooks.
Executive Director Bridget is an Investment Director for NZVIF’s Seed Co-Investment Fund. Over the last 10 years she has worked in the venture capital, private equity and angel investment sectors in London and New Zealand. Bridget worked at Infinity Solutions within the business consulting team focusing on knowledge management and business development. In 2007, she worked as an investment analyst for London based placement agents MVision Private Equity Advisors, on the investment fundraising team for many private equity funds across the UK, Europe and South Africa. Bridget returned to New Zealand in 2009, and joined NZVIF in 2010.
Treasurer Steven McPhail is investment manager for The Factory, Member MIG angels and Director of several early stage companies. Steven co-founded and ran King Solomon Mines (2003-14) – operated in Inner Mongolia China and listed on ASX. The company raised and invested $20M in copper/gold exploration. Principal Morel & Co – Investment bank for New Zealand technology sector (1997-2003). Morel & Co established VC fund No. 8 Ventures also raised capital, negotiated sales/purchases of technology businesses and valuations.
Committee member Greg is an experienced IT professional and executive with more than 25 years working in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the US. He was involved in setting up Sun Microsystems and Silicon Graphics in New Zealand, and has worked for these companies in New Zealand and overseas in executive management and international forums.
Committee member Nelson started his career at Ernst & Young and is the managing director and founder of Number Wise Chartered Accountants. His career spans over 18 years in providing accounting/taxation assistance to international businesses in successfully establishing their investment and operation in New Zealand.Nelson has a particular focus of SaaS portfolio around Xero ecosystem both in NZ and wider Asia including business financial intelligence, HR solution, payment and logistic companies. He also holds board position in a number of privately held companies with connections in Asia. Nelson is the general partner and COO of Zino Ventures.
Committee member Jo is co-founder and president of Fuel50, a HR SaaS product delivering value to clients such as eBay, MasterCard, Citibank and more. Fuel50 has successfully secured a foundation of US, UK, LATAM, and Australasian clients over the last 4 years, leveraging local angel investment to build a scalable sales model.
Committee member Dana contributes broad experience built from a career focused on strategic leadership and management of innovation in corporate environments across the US and Europe. Since moving to New Zealand, Dana has led strategic development for iconic NZ companies and taken up both executive and governance roles in Ice Angels’ portfolio companies.
