FNZC, Simplicity and K1W1 support Icehouse Ventures

It’s inspiring to see successful wealth management institutions support investment in early stage high growth ventures as they see the value for their investors.

Simplicity KiwiSaver has committed to investing $100 million over the next five years into New Zealand companies seeking expansion capital.

It will invest the money into funds managed by Icehouse Ventures, a new company to be launched in May, designed to accelerate the growth and development of Kiwi companies with global aspirations.

Icehouse Ventures will be co-owned between The Icehouse start-up accelerator, Sir Stephen Tindall’s investment company K1W1, Simplicity and investment banking firm FNZC.

Rocket Lab’s value shoots past US$1b after capital raise

The value of Kiwi satellite launch company Rocket Lab has rocketed past US$1 billion (NZ$1.42b).

The company said on Wednesday it had secured another $105m of investment following a funding round by Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Data Collective.

Sir Stephen Tindall’s K1W1 investment firm, as well as Promus Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Khosla Ventures all invested, bringing total investment in the company to $210m.

Rocket Lab signs satellite company Spire as customer

New Zealand space company Rocket Lab has signed a deal with a United States satellite company.

Rocket Lab will send Spire satellites into orbit on up to 12 missions from late 2016 throughout 2017.

Spire uses small satellites to provide “high-fidelity” weather and ship tracking information.
