Executive Committee

Angel Association New Zealand is governed by an Executive Committee of up to seven members of the Council who support our leadership team. A range of other resources, including events and professional development, are supplied in collaboration with our members and lead and expert partners.

David Flacks

Non-Executive Chair

As an angel investor for a number of years with Flying Kiwi Angels, and with a portfolio of startup investments  through IceHouse Ventures and others, David has a deep understanding of angel investing. With David’s three years on the board of NZ Venture Investment Fund, the predecessor to the NZ Growth Capital Fund, he also has a valuable ecosystem perspective. David’s current governance roles include Chair of the Suncorp NZ group of companies and listed company, AFT Pharmaceuticals. David was also a director of start up Harmoney Corp and took it to ASX listing as Chair. David’s background is in corporate law.  He was a founding partner of Flacks & Wong and partner at Bell Gully.

Bridget Unsworth

Chief Executive
Bridget is an active angel investor and a member of Angel HQ, and is based in Auckland. Previously she was Investment Director for NZGCP’s Aspire Fund and has worked in the venture capital, private equity and angel investment sectors in London and New Zealand. She is on the board of TracPlus Global, a tracking and communications technology for first responders across the world, and is also on the board of Invest South, an investment fund focusing on high growth business is the greater Southland region.

Trevor Dickinson

Committe member

Trevor is a serial entrepreneur who has co-founder and exited several successful high-growth technology businesses. Originally from the UK he emigrated to NZ in 2011 under an INZ Business entrepreneur scheme. He became a member of Angel HQ in September 2011 and is now one of New Zealand’s most active Angel investors. He was a director and first non-founding investor of Flick Electric and an early investor in Sharesies, Publons, HNRY and many others. He sits on the board as chair or director of several other NZ angel backed companies including Eight360 Ltd and Shift72. He is the current chair of Angel HQ and a recipient of the AANZ Arch Angel award in 2016.

Greg Sitters

Committee member

Greg is an experienced IT professional and executive with more than 25 years working in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the US. He was involved in setting up Sun Microsystems and Silicon Graphics in New Zealand, and has worked for these companies in New Zealand and overseas in executive management and international forums.

Prue Halstead

Committee member

Prue is Executive Officer of Invest South, a local regional growth capital fund owned by Community Trust South.  Having established a valuable regional and national network, her focus is to enable outcomes required for commercial success for regional companies. Prue has a background of business development, marketing and general management experience across a diverse range of industries, working in New Zealand and overseas.  In 2019, Prue was involved in establishing COIN South, an innovation network for Southland start-ups looking to scale beyond the region. Recognising the importance of a fully formed investment ecosystem to the growth of the Southern region, Prue is also a strong advocate of early-stage businesses in the South, and a founding Board member of Mainland Angels Investors.

Fi Foster

Committee member

Fi is a Senior Investment Manager at Movac where she works closely with potential investee companies and Movac portfolio companies. She also manages the investment team and sits as an observer on portfolio company boards. Fi loves meeting and supporting ambitious Kiwi companies as they accelerate and take their ideas out into the world. Prior to joining Movac, Fi worked in corporate finance advisory roles in NZ and the USA, supporting clients with M&A mandates, valuation analysis and business strategy.

Fi is a member of the NZ Private Capital Council and in 2022 was awarded the Aspiring Women in Private Capital Award. Fi is a passionate leader of, and champion for, diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, and in the private capital industry more broadly. Outside the office you might find Fi hiking trails with family around the country, road-tripping with her partner in their converted Landcruiser, or taking some time out in a yoga studio.

Mitali Purohit

Committee member

Mitali has strong public and private sector experience in investment and early-stage commercialisation, particularly deeptech. Having worked for venture capital funds, angel groups, technology incubator programme and technology transfer office, Mitali brings a unique perspective on the dynamics of the investment landscape. Mitali is a Principal at Nuance Connected Capital, a deep tech fund and an Investor Director of NZ spacetech start-up Zenno Astronautics. She is a member of Enterprise Angels, serves on the Board of Tread Lightly Charitable Trust and on the Establishment Steering Committee of MBIE’s RNA Development Platform.

Jack McQuire

Committee member

Jack is a Partner of Icehouse Ventures. He joined as employee two in 2013 and has led investment operations, reporting, compliance and portfolio management over the last decade as they’ve grown from a portfolio of ~$15m invested in ~40 companies to over $400m invested in more than 300 companies. He has been involved in the boards and growth journeys of Crimson Education, Joyous, Ask Nicely, Caruso, Genoapay (acquired by Latitude Financial Services), and Pyper Vision.
